Twitter is increasing its focus on news and live events
Twitter is hoping to take on Facebook Live, by launching its own 360-degree video streaming app. The app will be launched with Periscope, and will only be initially available to what the company calls ‘select partners’. Twitter is reportedly looking to integrate the new feature directly into its flagship app, whilst also increasing its focus on news and live events. It says that it is plans to “give everyone the power to create and share ideas and information instantly, without barriers”. Meanwhile, Facebook is continuing to develop its own live video services by developing partnerships with media outlets such as Business Insider.
