The ads are being delivered via Facebook Audience Network
Facebook has started testing showing adverts on internet-connected TVs. The ads, which must be in a video format, are being displayed on apps that run on set-top boxes such as Apple TV, and are being delivered via the Facebook Audience Network. A Facebook spokesperson commented on the test, saying: “We are testing how to best deliver video ads through Audience Network to people watching content on connected TVs. Our goal is to bring relevant ad experiences to people both on Facebook and off.” If the test is successful and Facebook rolls out the scheme to all advertisers, it will open up a whole new segment of the population to advertisers.
